Types of Pikmin

There are many different types of Pikmin. Currently, the following seven types of Pikmin have been confirmed:

  • Red Pikmin

  • Blue Pikmin

  • Yellow Pikmin

  • Purple Pikmin

  • White Pikmin

  • Rock Pikmin

  • Winged Pikmin

Types of seedling

Finding Pikmin requires growing seedlings you find in different ways.

Regular seedlings

Each type of Pikmin has its seedlings such as Red, Yellow, Purple, White, Gray and Pink. And each seedling requires different step counts to grow.

Huge seedlings

Huge seedlings require more step counts to grow, but the Pikmin you pluck wears an item and becomes a Decor Pikmin.

Gold seedlings

There are a variety of events taking place in the Pikmin Bloom and you might obtain a gold seedling as a reward. Gold seedlings do not require many step counts to grow and the Pikmin you pluck wears an item and becomes a Decor Pikmin.

Pikmin flowers

One of the plantlike characteristics of Pikmin is their ability to grow a flower on their heads.

It starts out as a leaf, but you can make it grow by giving the Pikmin nectar collected from fruit. If you give a Pikmin nectar when it has a leaf on its head, the leaf will change into a flower bud, and continuing to give the Pikmin nectar will cause the bud to bloom into a flower. When that happens, the flower will start to glow, and by tapping it you can obtain flower petals.

The type of flower, and the type of petals you can collect from it, differs depending on the nectar you give the Pikmin.

  • By putting a Pikmin in your Squad and going on walks with it, the leaf on its head will eventually grow into a bud even if you don’t give it nectar.

  • When you collect flower petals, the light on the flower disappears, but if you give the Pikmin nectar again, the light will return, allowing you to collect more petals.

  • If you give a Pikmin a lot of nectar at once and continuously collect petals in a short time, the flower on the Pikmin’s head will eventually disappear, and it will temporarily stop eating nectar.

  • When a Pikmin has lost its flower, it will grow a new leaf after a while, and then you can make it bloom into a flower again.

  • You can double tap on a Pikmin to check how many times in a row you’ve collected petals from it.

  • Pikmin flower will return to their leaves after a certain period of time.

Raise Pikmin’s friendship level

You can build up your friendship level with Pikmin by feeding them nectar, sending them out on expeditions, planting flowers with them, or battling mushrooms together.

  • Raising friendship level increases Pikmin’s workload.

  • If a Pikmin gets a friendship level of 4 (4 red hearts), it finds a gift at the site where its seedling was found. When the Pikmin brings it back from expeditions, the Pikmin wears the item and becomes a Decor Pikmin.

  • You can further raise a friendship level up to 8 (4 yellow hearts) at maximum after your Pikmin gets a friendship level of 4.  It becomes more difficult to raise a friendship level above 4.

Decor Pikmin

A Pikmin becomes a Decor Pikmin by wearing an item specific to the place it was born. Try raising a friendship level to get your Pikmin to wear a decor.

Decor Pikmin Collection

The Decor Pikmin Collection lists Decor Pikmins you have found so far.

Let’s collect a variety of Decor Pikmins by finding seedlings from various locations or by challenging events!

  • The Decor Pikmin Collection can be viewed from “Decor” below the Pikmin list or Seedling list.

  • In the Pikmin list and Seedling list, category icons that haven’t been found will be indicated in gray, category icons that have already been found will be indicated in yellow. Please refer to “Display rules of category icon” for details.

Display rules of category icon

If there are multiple decor variations in a category, the category icon will be yellow only if all the decors have already been registered.

Pikmin

  • For regular Pikmin, whether all the decor variations in a category have already been found is determined for each type of Pikmin (red, blue, yellow, purple, white, rock, wings).
    • Example: In the case that you have already found Coffee Cup Decor Red Pikmin, but haven’t found any Coffee Cup Decor Blue Pikmin yet, the category icon for normal Red Pikmin in the "Cafe" category will be displayed in yellow, while the category icon for normal Blue Pikmin in the "Cafe" category will be displayed in gray.
  • For Decor Pikmin, the category icon is always yellow.

Seedlings

  • For regular seedlings, whether all the variations in a category have already been found is determined for each color of the seedling (red, blue, yellow, purple, white, gray, pink).
    • Example:  In the case that you have already found Coffee Cup Decor Red Pikmin, but haven’t found any Coffee Cup Decor Blue Pikmin yet,  the category icon for normal red seedlings in the "Cafe" category will be displayed in yellow, while the category icon for normal blue seedlings in the "Cafe" category will be displayed in gray.

  • For huge seedlings and gold seedlings, if there is even one undiscovered Decor Pikmin in the category, the category icon will be displayed in gray.
