Insect Glaive

Specification

The Insect Glaive is a weapon type that lets you control a Kinsect during the hunt, gathering Extracts from monsters to power yourself up while fighting.

 

Basic Combo

▶ Tap

 

Kinsect

Kinsect is able to gather Extract by attacking monsters.

Normally it stays on the hunter's right shoulder, but performs attacks automatically when the hunter hits the monster with a specific attack.

 

Controls

  • Long press ▶︎ Release to activate Kinsect: Fire 

  • Long press ▶︎ Flick down to activate Kinsect: Mark

  • After performing Vaulting Dance 3 times, tap to activate Descending Thrust.
    ※ When powered up, you can activate Descending Thrust regardless of times Vaulting Dance has been performed.

  • Perform the Special Skill -Descending Thrust- when the Special Gauge is full by tapping on the Special Skill button. 

 

When Kinsect attacks the monster, it will gather 1 Extract, regardless of which part of the monster has been hit.

 

Kinsect will consume stamina every time it auto attacks. As long as stamina is not depleted, it will attack continuously.

※ Kinsect Stamina Gauge is displayed above the Special Skill button.

※ At the start of the battle, stamina is always empty.

 

Stamina is filled when a hunter's attacks hit the monster.

  • A certain amount of stamina will be restored if you perform a perfect evade.

  • The skill Focus can increase the amount of stamina gained.

 

When the Kinsect runs out of stamina, it returns to the hunter’s right shoulder and all gathered Extract is added to the Extract Gauge.

 

Extract

There are 3 types of the Extract: White, Red, and Orange. Each one has a different effect which activates when Extract Gauge is full.

Extracts accumulate in the Extract Gauge from left to right in the following order: White ▶ Red ▶ Orange.

  • If the maximum Extract Gauge is 6: White 2, Red 2, Orange 2.

  • If the maximum Extract Gauge is 8: White 3, Red 3, Orange 2.

 

Extract Effects:

  • White

    • Boosts your perfect evades and makes it slightly easier to perform them.

    • Boosts your Vaults, extending their height and distance.

  • Red

    • Grants continuous recovery to Kinsect Stamina.

  • Orange

    • Prevents knockback and reduces Minor Wind Pressure during grounded attacks.

 

If your Kinsects' attacks hit a monster's weak point, your Special Gauge will start to continuously fill for a certain time, as they return to your right shoulder.

 

Powered-up State

 

By filling the Extract Gauge to its maximum, the hunter enters a powered-up state.

The tap combo changes and the Kinsect will perform follow-up attacks depending on the hunter’s actions.

The Extract Gauge also gradually decreases over time, and the powered-up state ends once the gauge is empty.

※ While in the powered-up state, extracts generally cannot be collected.

 

Vault

Controls:

  • Long Press ▶︎Flick Up, then Long Press after the attack ▶︎ Flick Up

  • Long Press during a perfect evade ▶︎Flick Left /Right/ Up

 

Jumping Roundslash

Controls: Vault ▶︎ Tap while in the air

 

When in powered-up state, it changes to Descending Thrust.

 

Midair Evade

Controls: Vault ▶︎Flick Left/ Right while in the air

 

Jumping Advancing Slash

Controls: Vault ▶︎ Flick while in the air

 

When in powered-up state, it changes to Strong Jumping Advancing Slash.

When either Jumping Advancing Slash or Strong Jumping Advancing Slash hit the monster, it can combo into Vaulting Dance, followed by another Vault.

 

Vaulting Dance

The number of Vaulting Dances activated when midair increases the power of aerial attacks performed afterwards.

※ When vaulting after a perfect evade, the vault itself is already counted towards the number of Vaulting Dances.

※ Up to 3 Vaulting Dances can be performed during a single vault.

 

Descending Thrust

Controls: Tap while midair after performing 3 Vaulting Dances or tap while midair during a powered-up state

 

Descending Thrust (SP)

Controls: Tap the Special Skill button when Special Gauge is full.

 

Activating this while the Kinsect is not attacking will fully restore its stamina.

This can also be activated while vaulting or midair.

※The attack power increase from Vaulting Dance will apply to aerial attacks performed afterward.

 

 

Each Kinsect type has its own unique traits, including Kinsect Type, Performance Type, Attack Type, and Kinsect Bonus.



Kinsect Type

There are 3 Kinsect Types, denoting how they attack when you are in a powered-up state:

 

  • Flight: Delivers piercing attacks in tandem with your midair attacks.

  • Assist: Performs assist attacks in tandem with your grounded attacks.

  • Powder: Attacks using powder.



Performance Type

There are 3 Performance Types, with each affecting Extract and Stamina:

  • Stamina: Durable, with high max Extract amount and Stamina.

※Max Extract: 8 / Stamina: 5

  • Rapid: Easier to reach a powered-up state, at the cost of low staying duration.

※Max Extract: 6 / Stamina: 3

  • Power: High attack power, at the cost of low Stamina and slow power-up.

※Max Extract: 8 / Stamina: 3

 

Attack Type

There are 2 Attack Types, which can either sever or stun:

  • Severing: The Kinsect’s attacks become Severing, allowing it to cut monster tails off.

  • Blunt: The Kinsect’s attacks become Blunt, allowing them to inflict stun when striking a monster’s head.



Kinsect Bonus

Each Kinsect species has a set Kinsect Bonus

  • Kinsect Bonus Overview:

  • Harvest Bonus: Increases the amount of Extract gathered.

  • Charged Harvest Bonus: Allows Extract gathering even while in the powered-up state, but reduces the amount of extract gathered.

  • Follow-Up Bonus: Increases the frequency of Kinsect follow-up attacks triggered by the hunter’s attacks.

  • Aerial Bonus: The Kinsect is powered up from the moment a Dancing Vault is performed until the hunter lands.

  • Elemental Bonus: When in a powered-up state, the Kinsect’s elemental value is increased.

  • Stun Bonus: Increases the Kinsect’s stun power.

  • Assist Bonus: When in a powered-up state, stamina fills more slowly, but consuming full stamina increases the power of the Kinsect’s assist attacks.

  • Stamina Bonus: When in a powered-up state, increases maximum stamina.

  • Mighty Powder Bonus: When in a powered-up state, boosts powder attacks power at the cost of slow Stamina refill.

  • Cluster Powder Bonus: When in a powered-up state, makes powder explode multiple times at the cost of slow Stamina refill.

Flight-type Kinsect that responds to aerial attacks.

Increases frequency of follow-up attacks with their Follow-Up Bonus.

Powder-type Kinsect that excels in offense.

Their Mighty Powder Bonus boosts powder attacks, at the cost of slow Stamina refill.
