Great Sword styles are as follows:
Style 1 - Surge Slash
This style excels in combo attacks and delivering surge slashes one after another. It allows you to unleash powerful attacks with an increased number of hits by performing tap combos in place of the usual charged slashes. Your long-press action will be changed to Guard.
Main actions of the Surge Slash style:
Surge Slash
Falling Slash I → Vortex Slash II → Rising Slash III
Evade to the side to start a Vortex Slash I combo, evade forward or back to start a Falling Slash I combo, and guard to start a Rising Slash combo after the knockback.
After a perfect evade to the side, a Vortex Slash II combo will start. After a perfect evade forward or backwards, a Falling Slash II will start.
When at 3rd step of Rising Slash I combo, or after the Falling Slash II derived from a perfect evade to the side, you can activate Vortex Slash III, during which you will not flinch when taking damage.
Strong Charged Slash
By tapping or long-pressing after the 3rd combo step of Surge Slash, you can launch the Strong Charged Slash. Then, the combo may branch into Strong Wide Slash when tapping, or into True Charged Slash when long-pressing. After Strong Wide Slash, the combo might further branch into Rising Slash II when tapping, or Guard when long-pressing.
Guard
Perform a Guard by long-pressing. ※ You can’t transition into Guard from Strong Charged Slash after the 3rd combo step of Surge Slash.
The next action after guarding depends on how strong the knockback is:
・Knockback (Small): Rising Slash I (Tap), Guard (long-press).
・Knockback (Medium): Rising Slash I (Tap)
・Knockback (Large): Rising Slash I (Tap)
Tips:
・Although this style is based on hit count, each strike is still powerful, so aim for the safe timing to land a strike by either evading or guarding.
・Surge Slash combo starts from the 2nd step after perfect evade, making it easier to connect with Strong Charged Slash.
Style 2 - Rage Slash
This style changes the True Charged Slash into Rage Slash, as well as changes Tackle into Guard Tackle. Use Guard Tackle to parry monsters’ attacks and counter with the overpowered Rage Slash!
Main actions of the Rage Slash style:
Rage Slash
Charged Slash→Strong Charged Slash→Rage Slash.
During Rage Slash action, damage received by the hunter is cut in half and you will not flinch, allowing you to continue your actions.
When charging, you can change to Guard Tackle by flicking up.
Guard Tackle
Guard Tackle can be performed by long-pressing and flicking up.
When you successfully guard during Guard Tackle, long-press to perform a Rage Slash. On the other hand, when you don't receive an attack from a monster during Guard Tackle, long-press to perform Strong Charged Slash. With the exception of a few powerful attacks, you can guard attacks without flinching.
※ Make use of the Guard skill to guard the powerful attacks as well without flinching.
Tips
・Guard Tackle has a slightly longer guard time after activation. By activating it early, it becomes easy to block monsters’ attacks.
・By maintaining your charged state, you can more easily aim for powerful counters with Rage Slash after Guard Tackle.
