Palico

You can change the appearance of your Palico and even take AR pictures of him.

  • Content related to Palico is unlocked after clearing Chapter 3 of the pre-season story.

  • You can register and change your Palico’s name. The name can only be changed once per day.

 

Palico editor

In the Palico editor, you can customize your Palico to your preferences.

 

How to edit your Palico

  1. Tap the hunter icon.

  2. Tap the Palico editor.

  3. Here you can customize your Palico. The following parts can be customized:

    1. Fur color

    2. Fur length & thickness

    3. Pattern and color

    4. Outline

    5. Eyes

    6. Pupils

    7. Eye color

    8. Ears

    9. Tail

    10. Voice

    11. Clothing

  1.  When finished, tap Confirm at the bottom of the screen.

  2.  Tap Confirm once again.

 

Notes:

Some types of each part are only distributed during events or campaigns.

AR Palico

In the AR Palico menu, you can take photos of your Palico in AR mode.

How to take AR pictures of Palico

  1. Tap the hunter icon.

  2. Tap the Palico editor.

  3. Tap “AR”.

  4. (First time only)

    1. Tap on 'Allow Access' when prompted with the message requesting camera access. 

    2. Tap on 'OK' when prompted with the message 'Monster Hunter Now would like to access the camera.' 

    3. Tap on 'OK' when prompted with the message 'Monster Hunter Now Would Like to Add to your Photos.' 

    4. Tap 'OK when prompted with the message displayed.

  1. When you see the message 'Ensure that you move the camera slowly, while in a flat, open area,' focus the camera on a flat surface. 

  2. Once you see the message ‘Tap to make a monster appear,’ tap on the desired spot to place Palico.

  3. Your Palico will show up on the screen. Tap on the Camera icon at your preferred timing to save an AR photo.

Reality Blending

Reality Blending is an advanced feature in Augmented Reality (AR) that utilizes sophisticated mapping technology to seamlessly integrate virtual objects with the real-world environment.

By enabling Reality Blending in AR Camera, you can enjoy a more realistic experience as if your Palico existed in the real world. In order to turn off the Reality Blending mode tap on the Palico icon on the right side of the screen.

 

Palico Repositioning

By tapping the button displayed at the bottom right of the screen, you can reposition Palico.

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I see the message 'Ensure that you move the camera slowly, while in a flat, open area' and the large monster is not displayed. 

Slowly move the camera over a flat and spacious surface like the floor. Additionally, try turning off and then on the AR function by pressing the AR button, and then move the camera slowly. If the issue persists, try it in a larger space.

Q: (Android) I can't find the 'AR' button. 

For some models, the following operations are required.

  1. Tap [Settings]

  2. Tap [App]

  3. Tap "MH Now"

  4. Tap [Permission]

  5. Tap [Camera]

  6. Select other than [Not Allowed

Also, try installing Google Play Services for AR from the Google Play Store. If Google Play Services for AR doesn't appear, your device might not be supported. For more details, please contact support for your device. Please note that if your device is not supported, you won't be able to use the AR feature. Notes:

  • To use the AR Camera, you need to ensure that you have a compatible device and that the app has access to your camera. As of December 2024, the following devices are supported for AR camera use:

  • Google Pixel 4 or newer

  • iPhone 8 or newer

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 or newer

  • You'll need a spacious area for an AR Camera. Make sure to check your surroundings and move to a wide and safe location before using the AR Camera.

  • Stay aware of your surroundings and use the AR Camera in a safe place.
