Dynamax Pokémon are a special type of Pokémon that appear larger through a phenomenon called Dynamaxing. After Dynamaxing, Dynamax Pokémon don’t just look bigger, these Pokémon get a boost in power by learning special attacks called Max Moves!
Dynamax Pokémon can be found at or near special locations, called Power Spots, that will appear throughout the map. To catch a Dynamax Pokémon, you will have to first defeat it in a Max Battle. Dynamax Pokémon will remain in their giant form for the entire battle and have other unique powers to boot. They won’t go down easily!
Partner with your own Dynamax Pokémon and team up with other Trainers in your local area to defeat the powerful Max Battle boss. If you and your fellow Trainers are successful, you’ll be rewarded with special items and a chance at catching the Dynamax Pokémon. Trainers can also use PokéCoins to upgrade their rewards to receive even more items!
Note that, once you’ve caught the Dynamax Pokémon, it will return to its original form in your Pokémon storage.
After you catch the Dynamax Pokémon, it will be able to Dynamax in certain situations, like Max Battles, and use a powerful Max Move that’s based on its Fast Attack type. In Max Battles, Dynamax Pokémon may also use Max Spirit to heal themselves and their allies or Max Guard to reduce damage taken from an opposing Max Battle boss.
Max Particles can also be used alongside Pokémon Candy to unlock Max Moves, and train them for stronger effects during Max Battles! Training Max Moves will reward XP.
