Adventure Effects are temporary bonuses that are activated by Pokémon attacks that may be used outside of battle. Once activated, they will impact your Pokémon GO gameplay in special, and unique ways.
To activate an Adventure Effect, first you must have caught a Pokémon that knows one of these powerful attacks, for example Origin Forme Dialga or Origin Forme Palkia. These attacks are not currently able to be taught to a Pokémon using any TM.
To activate an Adventure Effect:
- Open the Main Menu and tap on your Pokémon storage.
- Tap on the Pokémon to view their details.
- Scroll down to the Adventure Effects section, below the Pokémon’s Fast and Charged Attacks.
- Tap Use next to the Adventure Effect.
- Activating an Adventure Effect will require Stardust and that Pokémon’s Candy. The longer the Adventure Effect is active, the more Stardust and Candy will be needed. Decide how much Stardust and Candy to use using the + or - button.
- Tap Use to confirm the duration.
- Tap Yes to activate the Adventure Effect.
Note that only one Adventure Effect can be active at a time, however Adventure Effects can stack with other, limited-time Pokémon bonuses (e.g. Mega Evolution, Primal Reversion).
Once the Adventure Effect has been activated, you will see a brief animation and then a timer will appear on the Map View, along the right side of the screen. The interaction radius circle may also feature a special effect, indicating that the Adventure Effect is active.
You can extend the Adventure Effect timer by using more Stardust and Candy. The timer can be extended for a maximum of two hours each time you tap Use, and you can tap Use again to add additional time—up to 24 hours total!
