Trainers logging into Pokémon GO for the first time and who are using a child account are able to do so by connecting their Pokémon Trainer Club (PTC) child account to Pokémon GO.

Make sure your parent or guardian is nearby and follow these steps to connect your PTC account to Pokémon GO:

1. Open the Pokémon GO app.
2. Tap Pokémon Trainer Club.
3. Log into your PTC account.
4. Pass your device to your parent or guardian.
5. Tap on the I’m the Parent/Guardian button.
6. Review the information on the We’ll Need your Permission page and scroll to the bottom of the page.
7. Tap Continue as the Parent/Guardian and log into your Parent Pokémon Trainer Club account.
8. Make sure that your child’s PTC account is displayed at the top of the page and review the details that the Pokémon GO app will access from your child’s PTC account. Tap Allow or Deny.
9. Review and toggle the sliders to update your child’s Pokémon GO permissions (more details below). After confirming their permissions, tap Continue to close out of this window.
10. Tap the button saying Back to Pokémon GO and pass the device back to the child, so that they can login again.
11. The child should now be logged into their account.

Please note that your PTC screen name or account name may not necessarily be the same as your Pokémon GO Trainer Nickname.

Parents Updating Child Permissions

Parents wishing to update the permissions for their Trainer using a child account from PTC can change them at any time by following the below steps:

1. Log in to your parent Pokémon Trainer Club account here.
2. Select the child account whose permissions you would like to update.
3. Choose Pokémon GO Settings from the left-hand toolbar.
4. Under Permissions for Your Child, you can select what features your child will have access to. Tap the checkbox below each permission to enable it for the child.

Please note that some permissions are only available by first selecting others.

If you do not see certain permissions, it means that your child is old enough to choose settings and permissions on their own Pokémon Trainer Club account.
