Visit PokéStops and Gyms around the world to gather Poké Balls, Potions, Eggs, and other items. You’ll find these near great places that encourage exploration, exercise, or social interactions with others. When you visit PokéStops and Gyms, spin the Photo Disc to generate items for your inventory.

GETTING ITEMS FROM POKÉSTOPS

To spin the Photo Disc at PokéStops:

  1. Walk towards a PokéStop. When you’re close enough to a PokéStop to interact with it, the box on top of the blue square will open.
  2. Tap the PokéStop.
  3. Swipe left or right to spin the Photo Disc and generate items.
  4. (Optional) Tap the items to add them to your inventory.
Once you’ve collected items from the PokéStop, it will cool down for a short period of time. It will turn purple to indicate that it is inactive. Once the cooldown period is over, it will return to blue and you can collect items again.

To help you explore new places in the real world, PokéStops you haven’t previously visited will appear surrounded by rings. Once you spin the Photo Disc, the ring will disappear indicating that you’ve explored this location.

As you explore, you may occasionally come across Gold-colored PokéStops. These PokéStops behave just like standard PokéStops, however there is a chance that you may receive Mysterious Coins and additional items when you spin the Photo Disc.

GETTING ITEMS FROM GYMS

You can also spin the Photo Disc at Gyms to collect inventory items. When you collect items at Gyms, there is a greater likelihood to find items that aid in battle — like Potions and Revives.

To spin the Photo Disc at Gyms:

  1. Walk towards a Gym. Tap the Gym to interact with it.
  2. Tap the Photo Disc  button.
  3. Swipe left or right to spin the Photo Disc and generate items.
  4. Touch the items to add them to your inventory.
Just like with PokéStops, you’ll have to wait a short period of time before you can spin the Photo Disc again.

You’ll earn bonus items when visiting Gyms controlled by your team. If you have a Badge for the Gym you’re visiting, you will earn additional bonus items as well.
