Lance styles are as follows:
Style 1 - Shield Tackle
This style changes the upward flick towards Shield Tackle and long pressing to Charged Wide Sweep, allowing you to buff your attack by utilizing guards and combining attack and defense.
Main actions of the Shield Tackle style:
Shield Tackle
Shield Tackle is performed by flicking upwards.
You will slightly step forward with each shield guard and attack.
※You can also stun the monster if you keep hitting its head.
If the knockback from the attack while guarding is strong, tap once in order to perform the Leaping Thrust or flick to perform the Guard Dash.
Shield Charge
Long Press ▶︎ Flick Up to perform Shield Charge.
You can perform a Thrust Attack while holding your shield. Guarding monster's attacks while dashing is also possible.
※You can also stun the monster if you keep hitting its head.
During the dash, you can perform a shield attack by tapping or waiting, and perform a thrust attack when flicking up. If the knockback from the attack while guarding is strong, tap once in order to perform the Leaping Thrust or flick to perform the Guard Dash.
Charged Wide Sweep
This can be performed by holding down.
Can be charged up to 2 charges.
Lance Boost
When successfully guarding with Shield Tackle or Shield Charge, lance attacks will deal increased damage for 15 seconds.
※The powered-up state can be extended by utilizing the skill Power Prolonger.
Tips:
・Maintain the lance powered-up state by attacking consistently.
・Utilize the “Guard” skill to block monster’s powerful attacks without flinching back, and “Guard Up” to guard against attacks that usually cannot be blocked.
Style 2 - Insta-Block
This style changes guarding to Insta-Block, and dash to Spiral Thrust, allowing you to utilize good timing to guard with attacks without taking damage in order to perform a powerful counter attack.
Main actions of the Insta-Block style:
Insta-Block
Long press to perform Insta-Block.
Well-timed guards against monster attacks will negate damage and knockback, and allow you to tap for a Cross Sweep.
During the Cross Sweep, even if you get hit by a monster, you can continue attacking without being knocked down or staggered.
Poorly timed guards will result in greater damage and knockback than usual.
Spiral Thrust
Long Press ▶︎ Flick Up to perform Spiral Thrust
Spiral Thrust can be followed up by another Spiral Thrust just once by flicking upwards.
After the Spiral Thrust, if the monster is in front of the hunter, tapping will perform a Leaping Thrust. If the monster is behind the hunter, tapping will perform a wide sweep while turning around.
※When lock-on is active, the resulting action changes depending on whether the locked-on body part is in front of you or behind you.
Spiral Thrusts nullify knockbacks and pierce right through monsters, allowing you to slip past monster’s attacks.
Tips:
・Timing an Insta-Block against a monster's attacks and following up with a Cross Sweep is a powerful combination, but it is also effective to evade the attack early with a Spiral Thrust and counterattack.
・Well-timed guards work well together with the skill “Offensive Guard”, while slipping past a monster’s back with Spiral Thrust will work well with “Sneak Attack” or “Status Sneak Attack”.
