In Monster Hunter Now, progressing through Story Quests allows you to unlock new weapons and features.

Prologue Story

The first set of quests you play when you start the game is the Prologue Story. By progressing through the Prologue Story, you can experience the basic features of Monster Hunter Now.

Completing the Prologue of the Story Quest will unlock the Pre-Season Story and the following features:

  • Hunt-a-thon

  • Equipment Overgrade

  • SP Skill

  • Season Pass

  • Daily Quests

  • Purchase of "Potions" in the shop

Pre-Season Story

By progressing through the Prologue and reaching Hunter Rank 11, you can play the Pre-Season Story. Advancing through the Pre-Season Story quests will unlock new weapons and cause a greater variety of large monsters to appear in the field.

Completing the Pre-Season Story will make 6★ strength monsters appear in the field. Additionally, it will unlock the Season Story and the following features:

  • Monster Tracker

  • Driftsmelting

  • Appearance of Volatile Territory and Large Monster Invasion

  • Obtaining Weapon Refining Parts / Armor Refining Parts (Daily Quest Rewards)

Season Story

The Season Story can be played for a set period (about 3 months) from the start of a new season. Advancing through the Season Story will cause a greater variety of large monsters to appear in the field.

If the difficulty of hunting in Urgent Quests within the Season Story is too high, you can change the difficulty from the settings menu. For more details, please refer to this FAQ: Urgent Quest Difficulty Change.

Completing the Season Story will unlock monsters with 1 more star than the monster that appeared in the final Urgent Quest of the Season Story.

For example, if the final Urgent Quest was 6★, then 7★ monsters will appear in the field after completion.

Notes:

During the season, you can replay the Season Story.

After the season ends, you cannot replay the Season Story from the ended season (though it may be revived during events).

When the season changes, large monsters that appeared by advancing the Season Story may no longer appear. In such cases, advancing the new season's Season Story may re-unlock them.
