Aim for breaking monster’s parts. For details, please see "What is Breaking Monster’s Parts?" below.
How to restore Hunter’s Health?
- Health can be checked through the Health bar displayed above the hunter's head on the 3D Map View and in the center-bottom of the Hunting Screen. (Note: The Health bar is not displayed above the head when health is full in the 3D Map View.)
- If your Health is below a certain level, you won't be able to start a hunt. Make sure to recover your health before engaging in a hunt.
- Your health will automatically replenish over time in the Main Screen or can be restored by using a recovery item.
- There are 2 types of recovery items: the First-Aid Med and Potion.
- First-Aid Meds will be automatically replenished until you reach Hunter Rank 11, so use it frequently. Even after you become a full-fledged hunter, First-Aid Meds will be supplied in a certain quantity every day, but they will not be replenished beyond the storage limit for First-Aid Meds.
- Potions can be obtained as rewards and can also be purchased in the shop (HR11 and above). There is no storage limit for Potions.
- Both First-Aid Meds and Potions can be used when hunting monsters, as well as on Main Screen and Hunt Prep Screen.
- During a hunt, First-Aid Meds will be consumed before Potions. Once you use a recovery item during a hunt, you won't be able to use another one for a while.
How to evade Monster attacks?
When the monster glows red, it is a sign that the monster will attack. Avoid it by flicking left, right, or backward.
Attack patterns differ depending on the monster. Make space after it glows red.
If you're not sure if you can dodge in a timely manner, don't stand in front of the monster, attack it from the side.
In the Hunting Screen, you can adjust the camera by pinching two fingers to zoom out or spread two fingers to zoom in. If it's too near to see the movements of the monster, zoom the camera out a little so the whole body of the monster can be captured on the screen.
What weapons and armor should I equip?
For details, please see the TIPS: "Equipment".
What is Part Breaking?
Part breaking means dealing a certain amount of damage to a monster’s part and breaking that part. If you successfully break a monster’s part, you will receive a Broken part reward in addition to the basic reward.
Rookie hunters (~ Hunter Rank10) cannot break parts. You will be able to do it from a full-fledged hunter (Hunter Rank11 or higher)
The parts that can be broken differ depending on the type of monster.
Aim for the Monster’s weak points
Great Jagras : Stomach
Pukei Pukei / Kulu-Ya-Ku : Head
※ Broken part rewards are random, and broken parts may not be given as a reward.
Are the breakable parts and weak points of Large monsters the same?
This may vary depending on the monster. Please refer to "Difference in effects when attacking" below.
What is Affinity?
Affinity means that the attack hits the monster as a critical hit and deals more damage than normal. Increasing the chance of critical hits will result in more frequent critical hits, greatly increasing the hunter's attack power. Skills of some equipment can increase the probability of critical hits.
What is Perfect Evade?
Perfect evade means dodging the moment a monster's attack hits.By adjusting the timing accurately, you can temporarily become invincible after evasive action, or make it easier to connect attacks after evading, creating effective attack opportunities.
In order to perform a perfect evade, it is important to understand the monster's attack pattern and predict when the attack will come.If the monster glows red, it's a sign of attack. Wait for the moment when the monster's attack will hit you, and avoid the attack by flicking.
Evading a monster's attack at the right time will cause a slow motion, and you will see a yellow outline around the hunter, indicating that "Perfect Evade" has been activated.
If you successfully perform a "Perfect Evade", the attack after evading will become more powerful.
Difference in effects when attacking
By checking the effect when attacking a large monster, you can get hints such as the weak spots of the monster.
White Effect
The attacks do not hit the monster’s weak spot and the weapon’s element and the monster's weakness don’t match.
Yellow Effect
The attack hits the monster’s weak spot or the weapon’s element and the monster’s weakness match.
Red Effect
The attack hits the monster’s weak spot using a weapon with an element that matches the monster's Weakness.
Vertical Long Red Effect
Critical hit
*Poison-element and paralysis-element weapons have a certain probability of dealing an elemental attack to build up poison and paralysis. Please note that not all attacks will be elemental attacks.
Example: When attacking the front leg (weak spot) of a Barroth (Weakness: Poison) with a Bloom knife (Poison-element), the color of the damage value will sometimes be yellow (weak spot but not an elemental attack) and sometimes red (weak spot, elemental attack).
