Choosing Weapons
Each weapon has its own distinctive traits.
Type (Sword & Shield, Great Sword, etc.)
Element corresponding to a monster's Weakness
Whether it has skills or not
Check the TIPS: Weapons for more details on weapon types.
Elemental weapons have a corresponding icon on their thumbnail image. You inflict more damage when a weapon's elemental icon matches a monster's elemental weakness, so try switching up your weapon to suit every monster!
Example: Kulu-Ya-Ku
Weaknesses:Water
Suitable Weapons: Jagras Edge (Water Element), etc.
*Some weapons and armor come with skills that are unlocked when you overgrade them to a certain Grade. The skills and their unlock grades for each equipment can be confirmed in the equipment details screen.
Choosing Armor
We recommend choosing armor that is suited to the characteristics of any Large monsters you hunt.
There are five types of armor in all: head, chest, arm, waist, and leg armor. Each can be forged, upgraded, and overgraded.
Each series of armor requires its own type of materials. The Leather series requires fewer materials. Series like the Jagras series, Kulu-Ya-Ku series, and Pukei series require the corresponding Monster Materials.
Overgrading to specific grades also unlocks skills unique to each armor, which is an important hint when selecting equipment. Some armors also offer the skill that increases Attack power. The skills and their unlock grades for each equipment can be confirmed in the Equipment details screen.
Note that there are no special bonuses for wearing a full set of any of the series. Try mixing and matching gears to find out what works best for you!
Notes:
As of August 2023, the max Skill Level is Lv1 to Lv5, with no greater effects demonstrated when that Skill Level is exceeded.
Tap the ‘View all’ arrow in the middle of the Equipment Screen to show "Status" to check your total equipment skill level.
When the elemental value of an elemental weapon is increased, it enhances the attack power against monsters weak to that element.
