Building on simple Portal hacks, Glyph Hacking is a more challenging form of hacking that can extract greater hack output.
 
As far as we have been able to discern, Shaper Glyphs are a logographic writing system that represent a word or morpheme, like Simple, More, or Less. A Glyph Sequence is like a sentence comprised of one to five words. Successfully repeating the Glyph Sequence will award you with more AP and more items.

How to Glyph Hack

  1. Get within 40m range of a nearby Portal
  2. On the Map screen, tap the Portal to open the Portal Details screen
  3. Long-press the Hack button, then slide to the Glyph button to open a command channel
  4. A glyph sequence of up to five Glyphs will quickly flash on your Scanner. Correctly repeat and retrace the same glyph sequence to earn Glyph Hack Points
Protip: You only earn Glyph Hack Points after successfully repeating the complete Glyph Sequence; it's all or nothing. Start with L1 and L2 Portals because it's easier to repeat one or two Glyphs than it is to repeat four or five.

If you successfully complete the full Glyph Sequence, you may also earn a speed bonus that can boost your hack output even further.
