At Niantic, we are committed to providing our players with the best real-world, augmented reality gaming experiences. As we continue to enhance our game features and services, we want to provide you with clear and simple information about the personal data we collect and use and how we protect it.
As part of that goal, we are updating our Privacy Policy across all our titles to make it even more transparent and easy to understand. Our new Privacy Policy will go into effect on May 25, 2018, and will reflect the increased transparency and control requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, also known as “GDPR.”
Here is a quick summary of what’s new:
  • We previously had separate privacy policies for different titles and websites. They are now unified into one global Privacy Policy for all Niantic games and services.
  • We added more details about the privacy rights granted to European users under GDPR, and how to exercise them. We will also be extending many of these rights to all our players worldwide.
  • We clarified which legal bases we rely on to process your personal information.
  • We restructured some sections to make them easier to read.
These are just a few of the highlights, so we encourage you to read our full new Privacy Policy to get all the details.
