We want to make Ingress as widely available on as many devices as possible without compromising the quality of the app. If you are experiencing issues with the app, please ensure the device you are using meets the following minimum requirements:

Android

  • Android 9+
  • Minimum resolution of 480x800 pixels
  • Minimum of 512MB RAM
  • ARMv6+ processor
  • GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.0
  • Strong internet connection (Wi-Fi or 5G)
  • GPS and Location Services
  • Rooted devices are not supported
  • Google Play Strong Integrity required

iOS

  • iOS 15 and above
  • Strong Wi-Fi or network connection
  • GPS and location services
  • Jailbroken devices are not supported

Tablets and wifi-only devices 

  • Many tablets, including those without built-in data network connectivity, do not contain built-in GPS sensors. 
  • In areas or at events with busy or congested mobile data networks, such as Anomalies, tablets may not maintain a strong enough GPS signal to play Ingress.

We cannot guarantee device support: With so many device models and configurations available in different regions, we cannot guarantee that every device that meets the above criteria will be able to play the game. 

Note about OS betas: Niantic apps may not function on devices running beta versions of iOS or Android.

For AR Portal Scanning

  • Android

    • Portal Scanning is available on devices running Android 9.0+ and can support Google Play Services for AR. 

    • Supported devices must install Google Play Services for AR from the Google Play Store. A list of supported devices can be found here.

  • iOS

    • Portal Scanning officially supported on iPhone 8 and newer devices running iOS 15+.
